THE WRESTLING MENU #252

Welcome one and all to the 252nd edition of The Wrestling Menu, the column that is sure to satisfy your taste buds when it comes to discussing all things wrestling.

I have something to write about in this section today & I really think its worth mentioning & then stopping for a minute or two to take it in. It hit me during the week exactly what some wrestlers go through schedule-wise on occasions. Sure, their weeks arent always as busy as what I am about to set out, but damn, in this case it is a sobering thought.

The 2 wrestlers that seemed to have worn the brunt of the workload over the 9 days I am about to highlight are Jeff Hardy & Ken Kennedy. So whatever you may think of them, give them an imaginary pat on the back for getting through such a period & putting in so much effort for us fans.

Odyssey expands its profile

For many golfers, an Odyssey putter without an insert is like a Rawlings baseball without red stitches. It just doesn't look right.

But this year, in an effort to break into the high-end milled putter market and compete with that segment's leader Scotty Cameron, Odyssey introduced its first non-insert putters under the Black Series label. “The point of difference we can bring to (the super-premium) segment of the market is added technology to a handcrafted putter," says Bill Knees, Callaway's senior vice president of marketing, who oversees the company's Odyssey brand. “And there are ways to do that other than adding an insert."

Odyssey's plan to grab a share of the lucrative high-end putter market likely will depend on its ability to convince consumers to pay more than it ever has for an Odyssey putter.

Responsibility was the topic for the character assembly Nov. 2. Fourth-graders performed a play called "The Little Red Hen." The play taught students how hard work pays off. Following the play, teachers chose one student from their classroom who displays great character throughout the day.

Penalty points double for speeding drivers

Motorists face being banned from driving for only two speeding offences under a government plan to double the fixed penalty for exceeding the limit by a wide margin, The Times has learnt.

Those caught driving at 45mph or above in a 30mph limit are likely to receive a higher-rate fixed penalty of six points and a £100 fine, up from the existing flat rate of three points and a £60 fine.

Ministers want to send the message that excessive speeding will lead more quickly to an automatic six-month driving ban for totting up 12 points within three years.

More than 1.1 million drivers have six or more points on their licences and, under the new law, could be banned immediately for one more offence.

Gebhard Ullmann At 50: A Career Retrospective

Gebhard Ullmann (born in Bad Godesberg, Germany, November 2, 1957) is a composer and improvisor unique in the jazz world today. Playing a multitude of reeds and flutes, and maintaining an international presence with both European and American groups, Ullmann has created a body of work that is much more than a chronological series of recordings documenting his musical thinking.

Each of his various projects addresses different musical issues and hence has its own distinctive voice, which is magnified by the reworked compositions that flow through them; the thread of his recurring compositions connects the different projects.

Each release stands alone, of course, but Ullmann's oeuvre ought to be viewed by the differing lenses of project or composition. Each individual album is connected to the others, not only by the presence of Ullmann, but also by how the compositions mutate.
